GROUP IS AND F STRATEGY
A Government Agency
THE CHALLENGE
The IS function of the Government department was tasked with enabling operations with a reliable service. It had become responsible for ensuring the business projects were delivering benefits required to further the business, whilst delivering cost efficiencies and savings.
This Government department announced the shift from its existing structure towards the formation of a central group comprising of three government bodies. As part of the Shared Services initiative, the new group had to continue to provide the services to the business whilst formulating a long term strategy. The IS department was finding it difficult to deliver projects effectively, and to initiate the required business change to provide the benefits to the users.
THE APPROACH
Qedis facilitated the formulation of the strategy, sourcing information from stakeholder reviews, assessing the Business Plan and key objectives of the newly formed group.
To assist the successful delivery of projects, Qedis took a client-side role and assisted the team with various Project Management aspects including:
- Scoping, capturing the business requirements
- Procurement
- Implementation Planning and Delivery
In addition, Qedis sought to create tools to assist future projects, such as assisting the creation of Project Handbook and related tools.
THE RESULTS
- An overall 3 year group plan was formulated which enabled the IT Director to communicate the vision to the Business, and obtain their input on the planned direction. This also facilitated the route to create detailed strategies for the sub-areas
- The Projects Team were able to deliver key projects for the business, including an IS Induction Course, a new Managed Print Service, and a new Remote Working Solution, which provided key improvements to the day-to-day operations of the business
- Qedis also provided various components to the Project Management LifeCycle, created as a guide to all future Projects undertaken
