Organisational Change
A UK Telecommunications Company
THE CHALLENGE
The Information Services arm of the client group was responsible for delivering services and capabilities to the business. To meet its business objectives, it had to transform itself from a very siloed and regimented organisation to an agile services provider. It had to embrace “new ways” of working, becoming more flexible in how it structures itself and how it delivers services and resources to the broader Group.
THE APPROACH
Qedis were engaged to design and implement a new operating model, business architecture and organisational structures around the IS arms Resource Management function; develop a Central Resource Management function to coordinate the scheduling/management of all staff members; organise staff into 16 professional communities to manage career development; and lastly ensure absolute operational integrity and business as usual was maintained fully.
Qedis worked with the IT senior management team to develop the new organisation, its accompanying structures and new ways of working, as well as the transformation road map to manage the migrate process.
THE RESULTS
- Successfully delivered a new operating model, supporting business architecture, redesigned processes to support an agile services organisation
- Developed and implemented the new organisation design, new team structures and roles
- Created a blueprint of the resource profile that delivered the right mix of resource type, capability, depth, sourcing, and at the right cost/value mix – the flexible resource pool and “professional communities”
- The roadmap described the multi-year programme of initiatives and work packages to transition the current profile to the target model, including how to ensure a common understanding within related client group companies
- Dramatic increases in information quality, KPI availability and governance
- Action plans developed during the first phase of the programme to allow for implementation to happen successfully
